1943 - ÉMISSIONS POUR LA CORSE,
SURCHARGES TRÉSOR SUR BILLETS D’ALGÉRIE
Durant les guerres, les émissions de billets sont toujours chaotiques. En 1943, le « Trésor Central du
Comité Français de Libération Nationale » réutilise des billets destinés à l’Algérie française, ainsi que
des impressions anglaises, pour circuler en Corse. Les billets de la Banque de France y sont mis hors
cours dès fin 1943.
Mis à part le 100 Francs Marianne (VF.06) que l’on trouve assez régulièrement, les autres coupures
sont rares. Les deux surchargés d’Algérie (VF.09 et 10) sont connus à quelques dizaines d’exem-
plaires, les deux autres n’ont pas été mis en circulation (VF.07 et 08).
1943 Banknotes for Corsica, French Treasury Overprints on Algerian Bills
During the wars, the issuing of banknotes was always chaotic. In 1943 the “Trésor Central du Comité
Français de Libération Nationale” (Central Treasury of the French Committee of National Liberation)
reused banknotes intended for French Algeria, as well as English prints, for circulation in Corsica.
The Banque de France banknotes were withdrawn from circulation at the end of 1943. Apart from the
100-Franc Marianne bill (VF.06) that can be found quite regularly, the other denominations are rare.
Around ten specimens of the two Algerian overprints (VF.09 and 10) are known to exist, and the other
two were not placed in circulation (VF.07 and 08).
