These coins cover the whole numismatic history, from ancient coins, French royal and modern coins to world coins and medals, including a gold jeton ! 544401 The sale starts with a set of over 60 Greek coins. Lovely coins from Carthage (such as lot 544783), a beautiful Tetradrachm ofAthens (lot 544367) and a 16-Litrai coin struck under Hiero I (lot 544785) are the highlights of this first part of this September Live Auction. Then comes a large selection of Roman coins, including some forty fine denarius of the Republic (such as lot 543955). We will offer a rare Matidie aureus (lot 544401) for sale for the very first time. A rare Caligula denarius (lot 543104) as well as a superb sestertius featuring deified Marcus Aurelius (lot 544480) will also catch your eye. Byzantium will also be in the spotlight at this sale with almost 20 lots, including a rare solidus of Philippicus Bardanes (lot 535559) as well as a beautiful solidus of Leontius (lot 535558). Some forty Gallic coins complement the part dedicated to Ancient coins.
