The special feature of this sale is a particularly fine selection of medals with, as its central piece, the catalog cover coin, i.e . a gold medal featuring the naval battle of Lepanto (1571, lot 490727). The only other known gold specimen of this extremely rare medal (struck from the same dies) once belonged to the Prince of Ligne and was sold and dispersed in London on July 26-27, 1968 by Sotheby’s. It is an exceptional tribute medal, which was most probably awarded to some very high-ranking official from the Spanish Netherlands. Yet this medal will not be the only one to catch your attention. The one from the Exposi- tion nationale, Produits de l’Industrie agricole et manufacturière (National exhibition, Agricultural Industry Produce and Manufacturing Industry products), lot 504994, or the one from the National exhibition of Nantes (July 1861), lot 504784, will also surprise you. It is with great pleasure that CGB Numismatique Paris invites you to take part in this Live Auction (closing with live offers on Tuesday, 4 December, 2018). Place your bids now for the lots that you are interested in on our website www.cgb.fr , by letter ( CGB Numismatique Paris , 36 rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris, France) or by email (live@cgb.fr ).
