LIVE AUCTION Closing date Tuesday, July 3, 2018 415 lots are for sale at the CGB Numismatique Paris Paper Money Live Auction – July 3, 2018, from French assignats, Banque de France notes and French Banknotes of War to the issuances of French Afars & Issas Territory and Yugoslavia! The sale starts with a very rare 200 Livres billet de Monoye signed in Paris on July 29, 1707 (lot 4230001). Then you will find four more 18 th century banknotes, including a State loan bond for 500 Francs ( bon de 500 Francs de rescription sur l’emprunt forcé ) (lot 4230005). With 224 lots, the section dedicated to Banque de France banknotes accounts for more than half of this Live Auction sale. It starts with the only 19 th century note offered in this sale, i.e. a 20 Francs note from 1871 (lot 4230006). A nice set of proof and specimen notes, some of which are rarely presented for sale, will no doubt attract your attention - especially lot 4230137, a face and back final proof of the 10,000 Francs Génie Français note (with numbering, signatures and date), and lot 4230134, a uniface proof of the 5,000 Francs Henri IV note (without watermark, with numbering, signatures and date) or lot 4230250, a specimen of the 5,000 Francs Trésor Public note. 4230250 Another very popular collection topic is that of low and high serial numbers. You will find a 50 Francs Cérès modifié note (Alph.H.13182 No.186), bearing the second highest listed serial number (lot 4230050) and lot 4230135, a 5,000 Francs Henri IV note with its low serial number (Alph.J.1 No.39841), the fourth lowest listed number. Hobbyists, who have become more and more demanding and specialized, often fight fiercely over counterfeits and error notes. The beautiful pair of counterfeited Bojarski with the same numbering (lot 4230162) or the 500 Francs Pierre et Marie Curie error note with a black vertical line in its watermark (lot 4230227) will no doubt thrill them!
